has more than 26,000 library cardholders in the Bonsall, DeLuz, Fallbrook and Rainbow area.
The Friends of the
Fallbrook Library
-
was founded in 1963 by seven members of the American Association of University Women
as a means for providing ongoing community support for the Library,
-
played a major role in the County of San Diego’s decision to build a new building
at its present location in 1969,
-
led the “Square Foot Campaign” and contributed $300,000 to rebuild the
facility in 1987,
-
operates the Bottom Shelf Bookstore (lower level of the library)
-
sponsors a monthly community book club, the annual Community Read and various library
programs such as the summer reading program,
-
is one of the largest and most active Friends groups in the County (has an active board
of directors of 24 volunteers, has over 150 volunteers who manage and staff the
Bottom Shelf and provide support to the library--stocking shelves, assisting with
children’s programs etc, initiated
the Memorial and “Book Lovers” programs for those wishing to donate to the library in memory or in honor of someone, is leading the fund-raising campaign for the new library.)
